About MMA

Masters of the Marching Arts was founded in the fall of 1996. Originally, we were going to cover all the marching arts such as fife and drum corps, bagpipes and marching bands but soon found our readers were primarily interested in drum corps. Our approach has always been to strive for a blend of our rich past, the present and, like the pandemic, a guess into the future.

Last year, after 25 years of publishing MMA, I took a hiatus for a number of reasons. Plenty of complaints came in from both the readers and my loyal writers.

This year when the pandemic hit, Linda Lachapelle, my significant other for thirty years, suggested we go online with MMA. I spoke to one of our writers, George D’Orio, a Beverly Cardinals alumnus. George referred me to another Cardinal alumnus, Tom Dennesen. Tommy is a professional web developer and marketer. I gradually became a believer.

We started working on the project in late August. We are now ready to go. Tom has done a masterful job with the web site that has far exceeded my expectations.

I’d also like to thank Steve Vickers of Drum Corps World for all his advice and support.

We now welcome you to MMA online and hope you enjoy it.
